Papièlcut nasce dall’incontro tra papiello, il foglio di carta in dialetto napoletano, e cut, “taglio” in inglese. Il nome richiama il suono di paper cut, l’arte della carta ritagliata, e conserva un legame giocoso con le radici napoletane del suo autore, Carmine Luino.
Il progetto prende forma attraverso il taglio: un gesto che cerca l’essenziale e lascia emergere, nel rapporto tra pieni e vuoti, il carattere di un’immagine. Luoghi, figure e frammenti di vita diventano forme in cui riconoscere qualcosa di proprio.
La carta è il punto di partenza di una ricerca che abbraccia anche legno e tessuto, spesso recuperati e riciclati. La bellezza e le possibilità espressive di ogni materiale guidano la creazione di opere d’arte e oggetti d’uso.

Papièlcut brings together papiello, the Neapolitan word for a sheet of paper, and cut. The name echoes paper-cutting, the art of cutting paper, while preserving a playful connection to the Neapolitan roots of its creator, Carmine Luino.
The project takes shape through cutting: a gesture that seeks out the essential, revealing the character of an image through the interplay of solid forms and empty spaces. Places, figures and fragments of life become shapes in which we can recognise something of ourselves.
Paper is the starting point for an exploration that also embraces wood and fabric, often reclaimed and recycled. The beauty and expressive potential of each material guide the creation of artworks and functional objects.
